Our School was one of the first in Alto Adige and the very first in Val Badia.
The ski instructors of the Ski Schools in Alta Badia, ambassadors of the culture and wine of South Tyrol.
Over the years South Tyrol and particularly Alta Badia have joined the most popular destinations for anyone wanting a holiday based on nature and sport in combination with an excellent food and wine experience. Those who come here love the delights of Ladin cuisine and the refined dishes offered by the restaurants and refuges, all accompanied by a glass of local wine.
Great ski school, friendly and very well run
Manuel was the instructor of my two children, age 7 and 10, and they had a great time skiing with him 5 days from 10 to 16. The school is very well run and organised and the ski area is fabulous with outstanding views. really a worthwhile investments. we will be back next year.
Helpful staff, 3 lovely ski instructors and one anonymous knight in shining amour
If you are a nervous skier like myself then I highly recommend some private lessons with Ski School Corvara Ladinia if you are planning to ski at Corvara for the first time. I came skiing with my husband and daughter and two other friends who are all better skiers and so the first day was a little traumatic for me as I found the runs off the Col Alt Gondolier a bit challenging to start with. On the second day I had a two hour lesson with Chantelle who was wonderfully understanding and gave me some good tips to help me ski with better control.
I booked another lesson for the third day but unfortunately was unwell. My husband and daughter took the lesson and enjoyed a great two hours with Luca who took them to different parts of the area and gave some useful tips to improve their skiing. I was more confident to ski with my family on the Wednesday and Thursday which made the holiday a lot more pleasant for all of us. I booked a four hour lesson on the Friday whilst the rest of our group skied the Sella Ronda for the day. Wilma was just such a lovely lady to spend this time with. We skied to Santa Croce and back which entailed some red runs that were quite challenging for me. With Wilma's guidance I gained considerable confidence and on our last day of skiing was able to ski a number of red runs with my family without being freaked out and without any falls!!
Organising these lessons entailed quite a bit of communication with the ski school booking staff who were very helpful and pleasant.
On our first day on the slopes my daughter lost her mobile phone most probably when helping me up from a fall. As you could imagine this was a huge drama because of the expense of replacing the phone and because she would be without a phone for the duration of our holiday. The phone was returned to our hotel at the end of the day by a ski instructor who had found it. We were never able to ascertain the name of the instructor but are extremely grateful to him for this act of kindness.
Excellent ski school and good gear hire shop
Imagine my amazement when my 5 year old (only her third week on skis) skied up with us to a local on-mountain restaurant, clicked out of her skis like a professional (that thing where you push one binding down with one ski and then the other with your free ski boot, that I still can’t do without risking falling over) and marched over to a restaurant table in her ski boots saying “this is where our instructor Roberto took us for hot chocolate”.
My 7 and 5 year old had a heap of fun in their week long group lesson (3 mornings, then two full days). Just as importantly, they learnt not just to ski well, but clearly also were taught all the little things that make new skiers more comfortable on the snow: how to click in and out of skis, how to stand still in skis on a steeper incline, how to walk sideways up a hill in your skis, etc etc.
Don’t be put off by what seems like chaos on your first morning, when the ski school assesses the new students for allocation to the right class. Once that 20 minutes was done, our children had a superb, friendly instructor that not only taught them the necessary skills but also had a great sense of when they were getting tired, cold, afraid and needing encouragement or hand-holding etc.
If your child doesn’t speak German or Italian, it’s worth booking a place in advance and specifying that you need an English-speaking instructor.
A quick word on the gear shop, as there are some negative reviews previously: we rented all our kids’ gear and our skis through this shop and had a very positive experience: good equipment in good condition, fast service, and when my son broke an (previously slightly bent) ski pole during a ski lesson they just gave him new poles, no questions asked and no extra charge. The lockers make life a lot easier if your hotel isn’t right next to the Boe and Borest lifts.
Great instructors - nice people
Ski and Snowboard School in Corvara is a great place to learn how to navigate the slopes. the instructors are multilingual and friendly.
Ski lessons
We booked ski lessons online prior to our arrival & booked extra lessons while we were there. We had a great instructor called Willy who took us to different ski areas around Corvara which really helped us get to know the area & which ski lifts to take. There are a lot of blue runs & Willy showed us the easy light blue runs, the moderate middle blue & difficult dark blue runs.
Excellent children's lessons and childcare facility!
We visited Corvara for the second time earlier this month. On this visit we took our 7yr old daughter.
We booked her onto group ski lessons for 5 days. 3 mornings and 2 full days. On day 4 all the children took part in a race and all recieved a trophy and group photo which was a lovely touch. There were 7 children in her group, from various places around the world and one instructor called Marlies. She was fantastic and all nerves I had about leaving her swiftly disappeared. She gave me her mobile number so I could check in when needed.
Highly professional stuff
Very comfortable for those who prefer not to carry ski and boots. Well-organized with friendly and professional stuff
Ski holiday. Low intermediate skier.
Our instructor Luca B was excellent for our ski group. We where of similar ability and he was able to build our confidence, keep us all safe and help to build on our individual strengths. The school is very well run and organised. The ski area is fabulous and the views outstanding ,being able to ski further and see the area and views was amazing. I was able to ski further than ever before and this was mainly due to the excellent instructor. Well done. We will be back !
